How to Achieve Optimal Oral Hygiene? What Products Are Best for Oral Care? The Experts at Mattei Dental Clinic Provide Answers to Your Questions, Guiding You in Caring for Your Mouth Effectively.
Hello and welcome to our clinic!
On this page, you'll find useful information and some products recommended by our professionals. We also invite you, if you haven't already, to follow us on our social media channels, Instagram and Facebook, where we regularly share helpful tips for your health.
Let's get started!
• Toothbrush: Choose a toothbrush based on your preferences or the recommendations of Dr. Mattei or the Dental Hygienist. If you use a MANUAL toothbrush, it's important to use one with soft to medium bristles and to be properly instructed in the correct brushing technique.
(Click here or here to purchase a toothbrush with soft bristles, and here or here for medium bristles.)
• If you use or have been advised an ELECTRIC toothbrush by us, use round-headed attachments without plastic components. It's crucial to perform the correct brushing technique here as well.
(Recommended electric toothbrushes: Oral-B Vitality PRO, click here, Oral-B Vitality PRO 3, click here. Recommended attachments: Oral-B Sensitive, click here.)
• Toothpaste should have a high fluoride content (1450 ppm) and low abrasiveness (low silicate content in ingredients). Every toothpaste should meet these two requirements.
(Some recommended brands: Colgate "Protection Caries", click here, Elmex Caries Protection, click here. If you specifically have gum problems, Parodontax, click here, or Fohrans, click here.)
• Dental Floss: Regardless of the brand, we always recommend using Waxed dental floss for increased strength. We also offer different forms (tape or round), depending on the width of your interdental spaces (click here).
• The use of a mouthwash with 0.12% chlorhexidine digluconate concentration should be done under our recommendation. For daily use, we recommend mouthwashes with essential oils. If you use chlorhexidine mouthwash, remember to use it at least an hour after brushing with high fluoride toothpaste.
(Some examples: Listerine, click here, or Curasept Daycare, click here, make sure they are alcohol-free.)
• For patients with bridges, orthodontic appliances, or limited manual dexterity, alternatives to traditional dental floss include:
Floss threaders (floss "with a handle" - e.g. brand: TEPE, like these or these)
Straight or angled interdental brushes (e.g. brand: TEPE, click here, NB Respect those recommended by the dental hygienist)
Orthodontic interdental brushes (e.g. "ORAL-B Super Floss", click here).
Always remember to:
• Return for follow-up visits to assess your progress and risk of cavities (early diagnosis of cavities is crucial).
• Regularly undergo professional hygiene sessions as established to maintain good periodontal health.
