It's finally time to have the smile you deserve!
Have you always been afraid of not being able to tolerate or feeling uncomfortable with traditional braces?
Well, today this problem no longer exists!
You've probably heard of Invisalign, maybe you've searched for it online, but you still don't have a clear idea.
In this page, we'll try to explain in a few lines what Invisalign is and what it can really do for you, answering the most frequently asked questions.
First of all, what is it?
It's a series of transparent plastic aligners to be worn all day (to be removed only during meals) that exert forces on the teeth, moving them.
How long does the treatment last?
It depends on the complexity of the case.
In individuals who have completed development (young people and adults), the duration can vary from a few months (in simpler cases) to about 12-24 months, significantly reducing the time compared to traditional fixed braces.
Of course, in cases of children or teenagers, we need to consider growth, so the orthodontic treatment will be different, with a longer duration and the likelihood of needing other orthodontic systems (including traditional braces).
What's important to know is that aligner therapy is a tool in our hands that provides fantastic possibilities, but it's not the only one. Therefore, it's the operator's experience that allows us to address more complex cases.
Can I do it anywhere? In any other dental office?
No. Dr. Matteo Mattei is officially an Invisalign Provider, and only certified practices are authorized to perform Invisalign treatments.
Thanks to our collaboration with Invisalign, we have access to the best 3D design and printing technology to offer the highest quality in this field.
Through digital technology, we can simulate movements, planning everything in detail before starting, integrating it with Digital Smile Design, providing an unprecedented level of precision and attention to detail.
What do you need to do to get started?
First of all, ensure you have a healthy mouth, without cavities or ongoing inflammatory problems, so it's important to schedule an initial visit with our practice.
Any orthodontic treatment should not be performed on compromised teeth or without proper support and hygienic maintenance.
Once any necessary treatments are completed, you'll have an appointment where Dr. Mattei will gather information necessary for the orthodontic study of your case. Specifically:
3D scan of your mouth;
Photographs of your face and smile;
Intraoral photographs;
Two X-rays (panoramic and cephalometric).
This documentation will be sent to the Align headquarters in the USA, which will produce, only under Dr. Mattei's guidance, a simulation of the treatment plan, called Clincheck. It will be modified until it fully satisfies our therapy objectives and quality standards.
Only when it's perfect, you'll be called back, and it will be presented on our monitors.
Dr. Mattei will thoroughly explain your personalized treatment plan, tailored just for you!
Once approved, we'll start!
Will there be pain during the treatment?
The discomfort levels of old orthodontic techniques are a distant memory.
The only discomfort you might experience is during aligner changes, which will last a few hours but won't require painkillers.
Can I eat with the aligner?
No, that's the only time you'll need to remove it. You can only drink cold liquids, not hot ones.
What other discomforts might I experience?
Usually, minor speech defects of certain phonemes have been described (although we haven't encountered them yet), only at the beginning of the treatment.
Of course, the aligner has its thickness, so even if limited, it might require a minimal adjustment.
During some phases and throughout the treatment, we might need to attach composite resin bumps ("attachments") to the teeth's surface, strategically planned to make movements faster and more efficient. This might slightly increase the aligner's thickness, but not by more than 1mm!
How should I clean the aligners?
Dr. Mattei and his staff will provide you with all the necessary instructions. It will all fit into your normal daily hygiene routine.
We hope this initial information has been helpful.
All that's left to do is pick up the phone and schedule an appointment!
